Back To School
I was thrilled when Erin & Tricia of the awesome style & design blog Suburban Bitches asked me to do a styled “Back to School” fashion shoot. And I was even more excited when I was able to throw my kiddos into the mix (until the actual shoot, when of course my two “models” were the most challenging to work with!) I was amazed at how well all of the kids’ outfits coordinated, given that we did not discuss the colors or themes. Great minds think alike! A special thank you to Gallipot Salon for the great hairstyles and Lace and Lillies for the incredible flowers. I am going to steel (with her permission) much of what Tricia said on their blog since she has all the links to the fashions thrown in.
To make the shoot extra special Lace and Lilies provided the beautiful wreaths and floral accessories.
The flowers in the first wreath are bay leaf and calcynia.
Alice’s wreath has pink/peach ranunculus, purple allium bullet, queen anne’s lace and calcynia.
Elizabeth’s wreath is pink ranunculus, calcynia, astilbe, pink spray rose, blushing bride.
The last wreath is spray rose, ranunculus, blushing bride.
Gallipott Salon created those beautiful braids.
Elizabeth’s bouquet is made up of orange dahlia, yellow pin cushion protea, pink ranunculus, greenery – song of india, burgundy cox comb.
Alice’s top, jeans and belt are all from there. Her shoes are from Nordstrom. Elizabeth’s sweater, top are from Peek and her jeans shorts are Hudson. Her boots are DV by Docle Vita. Erin purchased the entire look from Nordstrom.
I loved these sparkly silver sneakers and found them at Zappos and the dress is Tea Collection. They were supposed to be a surprise for the shoot. Of course my big girl discovered them beforehand. Connor’s sweatshirt and shorts are Peek.
My little one is wearing a Tea Collection dress and her own sweet little impish grin.
Jack’s hat, t-shirt and jeans are all from Gap Kids. The New Balance shoes are from Nordstrom.
Charlie’s sporting a very similar look to Jack’s as he always wants to be like his big brother. His hat is from Crewcuts (similar style), his t-shirt and pants are from Gap Kids. His Adidas are from Nordstrom. His haircut like all of our kids’ cuts are from the official Suburban Bitches’ salon, Gallipott.
Conor is wearing Mini Boden and Addias. How much do you love those not real glasses?
These two have been wishing for these Minnetonka boots for over a year. The fringe makes them the perfect hopscotch accessory!
The boutonniere of blushing bride & calcynia from Lace & Lilies was the cutest and worked perfectly with her Crewcuts hedgehog necklace.
Jack’s outfit is from Gap (here and here). The shoes are from Nordstrom (similar style). Charlie is dressed in Peek (here and here) and Saucony’s from Nordstrom.
Here the girls are wearing Tea, Mini Bodin, Peek and Gap. The funny thing is is that we didn’t collaborate on colors or the bird theme. The Tea bird t-shirt was the prefect compliment to Elizabeth’s cute bird dress and sweater from Mini Boden. Elizabeth’s necklace is from a local store, Clothes Pony, and her shoes are from Nordstrom. Alice’s dress is from Peek, a line Erin and I both love. I wish I could buy every single little girl outfit they made. Her boots are the same as the ones Elizabeth was wearing and her army jacket was Gap clearance earlier this summer (similar style).
And one final shot of everyone! It was the perfect note to end on because right after I took this shot Jack dropped his brother off the ledge and on his face. Good thing we had planned a trip to the ice cream shop afterwards. Poor Charlie was quite a trooper!! Be sure to head over and subscribe to Suburban Bitches blog I am constantly amazed at what these two come up with. Tons of inspiration to be had! Thank you again Tricia & Erin! And happy Back to School everyone!
