Hilary & Chris - Married
August 27, 2008
Hilary & Chris are two amazing people that are globally minded. They met in Africa (or in the airport on their way there!). They had a beautiful day at the Hudson Gardens in Denver to celebrate their incredible commitment to each other. Their special day was filled with love, happiness & joy.
Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your wonderful day. Here are a few of my favorite images.
Friends & Family click here to sign the guest book to be notified when all of their photos are ready to view.

The sweet flower girl took her job very seriously!

A great shot from my fabulous second shooter Steve Glass…

Hilary & Chris know how to have fun!

When you take a family vacation…
August 15, 2008
and happen to be a photographer…you can only imagine how many pictures you return with. Even when I try to take a break from being behind the lens…I seem to find myself there again and again.
We just returned from Minnesota. It is so fun to go back every year and take in pure relaxation, amazing beauty, and fantastic family moments & memories. It is also a great break from email, cell phones & the “real” world-since at the lake we don’t have cell reception, internet or TV!!
Here are a few pics from our recent adventures…(I will eventually catch up with posting from all of the fun recent events..2 weddings, senior portrait and another family portrait! Where does the time go???)

Our daughter entertained and brought smiles to many faces at the nursing home, when we went to visit her Great Grandmother Hazel (who is 101!!!).

Well…we may have another airplane lover in the Olsen family. Our daughter loved the airplane swing so much. She had a huge smile on her face the whole time. She would say “all done”, then you would go to take her out and she would insist..”more, more, more”!

Babies, Babies, Everywhere!
July 31, 2008
Oh how I love babies! I had the great joy of meeting this new little one today- we are so glad that you are here!!!

We have such a love for our 2 furry children…so Tali,we know that you are still their first child, and will always hold a special place in the family.

This is just so fitting for these two…they are amazing athletes! Scott runs the best training group in Colorado- Fast Forward Sports- so if you are looking for a group to run, ride or swim with, F4 is it!! They are both Ironman triathletes, and incredible runners…and pregnancy did not slow them down. They continued to ride their townies to each OB/GYN appointment, even the appointment that was scheduled on their due date! So we had to incorporate a bike somehow…

I love baby feet!

Thank you for letting me spend some time with your precious new addition!

Tugs at my heart strings…
July 25, 2008
I find that mountain weddings tug at my heart strings. Probably because I was married in the mountains, and I love being up there in the fresh air every chance I get! I had the great pleasure of second shooting with Ali of Alison Rose Photography a few weeks ago in Breckenridge. Thank you Ali, I had a blast! Here are some photos from the day. Alison and David had a beautiful wedding with so much fun, laughter and love…it was radiating everywhere!

I love second shooting because I get to focus on my favorite part of shooting weddings…catching the moments as they unfold. With second shooting, I don’t have to be in charge of all the formal shots, so I can watch and catch moments like these.

And then the kids…how can you resist?

Alison and David are so beautiful together.

This is one of my favorite shots of the day.

I always love walking shots, they are so natural.

A fun ring shot.

A little fun with off camera flash during the first dance.

I absolutely love shooting weddings! Every wedding is so different from the next. It is an honor & privilege to be witness to such love, laughter and joy!

One Light Workshop
July 23, 2008
What a fantastic workshop…and what fantastic photographers we have here in Colorado! Zach Arias was in town for a one day (which stretched into 2 days…130am!) workshop, sharing with us his amazing knowledge of off camera lighting with one light. It was chalked full of invaluable information! What an incredible person & photographer. Thank you Zach for being a huge inspiration in both photography & life! Here are some shots from our fun day. And a big thanks to our fellow photographers and stand in models (Rachel, Shannon & Steve). And a huge thanks to Stacy Z for hosting all of us! What a day.
Here is our first set up…

And this is what it can produce! It is incredible what you can do to change an image by adding just enough light to balance the subject with the background.

Our next location. This first photo is with the available light.

This image is with a strobe & a grid to direct the light right onto Shannon.

Another setup…

This is with available light…

And then with the addition of one strobe with a shoot through umbrella…

And look how lucky we got- a rainbow!

Believe it or not, we still had daylight when this image was taken.

Now it was getting darker, and harder to get the camera to focus!

Back at the house…one light with a grid to highlight Steve’s profile.

This is in a stairwell to the basement- would you have guessed that? It is so fun to play with light!

And how cool is this….Zach stepped outside saw the clouds & a car and knew we had to play with this.
One light, a car windshield, and a really cool sky- and look what you get! (P.S. this is taken after midnight.)

I can’t wait to play around with all of this new knowledge!

An Amazing Man.
July 23, 2008
The past week started off with an amazing treat. Many of you know that when I was 9 years old I was in a terrible car accident that left me with less that 1% chance of living. Well, thanks to Guss I am here today to tell the story!
Guss & Paul were the two paramedics that arrived on the scene…and thank God it was them, because they were notorious for “pushing the limits” and for having things in their ambulance that most did not carry. So when I arrived at the hospital I had multiple IVs, and other goodies all hooked up and running- as the hospital staff looked at Paul & Guss and wondered where it all came from. But without them & the excellent, amazing , phenomenal care that they provided…I would not have made it to the hospital. Guss let me know that my case is in textbooks about unsurvivable injuries. Their incredible knowledge and expertise helped me beat all odds!
I have stayed in touch with them since the age of 9…and have not seen them since I was 10. Unfortunately, Paul lost his life in an automobile accident in August 2007. But this past week I had the great honor & privilege of picking Guss up from the train station in Denver and having him up for lunch before he was off to visit a friend in Casper, WY.
Guss, you are an amazing man…and I will continue to thank you for my life each and everyday.

Thoughful, Beautiful & full of Love…
July 10, 2008
Paige & Karl’s wedding was full of thoughtful sentiments, beautiful people and details and tons of love. It was a great honor to be part of your day. Thank you!
Also, a big thank you to my great second shooter Trish Eberlein.
Paige had her makeup done at Neiman Marcus in Cherry Creek. It sure doesn’t take much, when you are this beautiful to begin with!

Paige and her bridesmaid dressed at the gorgeous Phipps Mansion, where the reception took place.

Paige had so many thoughtful and sentimental pieces in her wedding day. And antique Bible, and heirloom handkerchief, a lucky penny..and 5 “old” rings from members of Karl & Paige’s families tucked throughout her wedding bouquet. As she explained the rings to people throughout the day… many tears were shed. It was so wonderfully thoughtful.

And how can you resist this face? The flower girls were so precious and a great source of entertainment during the ceremony! You have to love kids.

This was one of my favorite events of the night. As Paige & Karl were about to start their first dance, the DJ Matt announced that Paige had picked out a very special first dance song. As it began to play Karl was shocked to hear the Oklahoma fight song! Another fantastic detail was the groom’s cake. It was in Karl’s alma mater West Virgina’s colors with their logo and the score of the last time they beat OU.

On to the real first dance.

Another moment of the evening that was just hilarious… the bouquet toss. Paige ran around the room gathering every bouquet she could find…so that every single woman could catch one-and soon plan the wedding of her dreams. Fantastic!

And a final parting shot.

It was such a wonderful day. Thank you.
