Family Vacation- Film Only!
Well, school will be out for the summer before we know it and I am finally posting my images from last summer! Before we headed out for our 4th of July in Vail and then our road trip to Minnesota, I decided that I would ONLY use film and my iPhone to document our adventures. It was a wonderful challenge and made me slow down and appreciate things before clicking the shutter. And I was able to capture the moments I was really going after. It was a wonderful exercise for me, and I think I may… Read More »
Guss – A Life Saver
And that life would be mine. I met Guss 30 years ago on December 7th. We didn’t plan the meeting (of course), but the stars aligned and he just happened to be the magnificent paramedic who showed up on the scene when I was in an automobile accident. Guss had a sixth sense that day, and he insisted that they didn’t leave the site of the crash when he saw one loan boot and no child to go with it. He searched the roadside, and low and behold he found me in the ditch. Without… Read More »
Farmstead
I love this farm. If you haven’t seen my house, you may not know that I have an affinity for barns. We have photos and wood block prints of barns throughout our house. And we recently installed a reclaimed white washed barn wood wall. This farmstead and barn are across the street from our house and neighborhood, and I love looking at it everyday as we leave our house. I knew some development was going to come into the area, and I tired to contact the owners of the property..because I would really love to photograph more… Read More »
Meadow Lark Farm Dinners at Toohey & Sons Organic Farm
A favorite event of our summers is the Meadow Lark Farm Dinners, so we were so thrilled to see them back at it this summer after taking a summer off. We jumped at the opportunity to go to another fabulous farm and enjoy an incredible meal prepared by their amazing chefs. I am always blown away at the flavors and the freshness in each course. And again, this year did not disappoint. This time we went to Toohey & Sons Organic Farm. They were wonderful hosts and it was so fun to hear about the farm,… Read More »
Something New (or old)
I have been playing lately… and not just with my two little girls. I have been playing with film, and it has been such a wonderful exercise for me. And yes, I have been asked a million times “why would want to go backwards?” And my answer is, that right now in my career AND in my life I feel as if I need to go backwards in order to go forwards. Sounds crazy, I know, but I need something to slow me down, to make me pause, to make me take the time to appreciate… Read More »
Galapagos- Trip of a lifetime!
We just returned from a trip of a lifetime. We went to the Galapagos with my parents, my brother and his family and my family (except our little one who stayed home with her other amazing Grandma aka “MeMa”!) It was a spectacular trip from start to finish (minus our plane’s detour back to the mainland, when we were over half way to the islands, due to “something wrong with the plane”!!). But we made it safely and experienced the all the majesty the Galapagos have to offer. If you have any interest in wildlife,… Read More »
Our family of four
Some of you know that our extended family will soon include another professional wedding photographer RJ Kern of Kern Photo. We can’t wait to add him to our family. One bonus to adding another photographer is that I actually get to be in some pictures now! RJ did a wonderful photo shoot of the four of us when our littlest girl was 5 weeks old. I will cherish these photos forever! You can read more about this shoot here and here. RJ does a great job discussing film vs digital. Can you tell the difference?… Read More »
She’s Here!
We welcomed our new baby girl into our family on November 5th, 2011! Everyone is happy, healthy and enjoying this time together as a family. Our oldest is loving her new role as a big sister…and I am loving my new role of mother of two little ladies! I will be limiting my use of the computer over the next few months so that I can cherish this time. So if there is a delay in getting back to you, I apologize…but I promise you will hear from me soon!
Near the End
Well, it may be getting a little quiet around these parts over the next few weeks/months. We are gearing up for the arrival of the newest Olsen, any day now… literally. We are waiting on pins a needles (with lots of anxiety on my part) to meet this newest bundle. So if you are trying to reach me, and there is a delay… just know that I will return your call or email, it just may take me a little longer than normal. Thank you to Julie Afflerbaugh for these great photos!
Meadow Lark Farm Dinner- Oxford Gardens Farm
I have a lot of work and blogging to catch up on after returning from Maine, but last night we took some time to enjoy a phenomenal meal prepared by Meadow Lark Farm Dinners, hosted by Oxford Gardens Farm in Boulder. It was so nice to slow down for an evening; enjoy amazing food, wonderful company and gorgeous surroundings. What a treat.
