Julie & John’s beautiful Breckenridge wedding was such a pleasure to be a part of. Their friends and family were so warm and welcoming and their amazing day had such a sense of joy present in every moment- especially the dancing!
Their day started at the base of Breckenridge mountain in the Mountain Thunder Lodge. Friends and family helped Julie with makeup and her mom and dad were there to help her into her stunning dress and shoes. Every time the front door opened another amazingly cute kiddo walked in, dressed to the T’s, ready to be part of Julie and John’s special day.
Julie & John held their beautiful ceremony at St Mary’s Church in town and then they had all of their guest join them at the wonderful Ten Mile Station for the reception festivities.
Before the ceremony started, Julie’s nerves were palpable, it was so sweet to watch her as she took deep breaths before walking down the aisle. The raw emotions during weddings are some of my very favorite things to witness.
I love how Julie & John included their families into the ceremony. All brothers/brother-in-laws and sisters/sister-in-laws were bridesmaids & groomsmen and Julie & John’s nieces and nephews could not have been any cuter. Two were carried down the aisle, while the other 4 started out hand in hand, and then quickly ended up in a pile at the back of the church! You never know what is going to happen when little ones are involved, and I love that! Once they were helped back onto their feet, 3 of 4 of them took off in a full sprint down the aisle while the other sweetie was so embarrassed, she ended up running back out of the church in tears. Oh how I love kids and the fun they bring to weddings. Julie and John had a beautiful Catholic ceremony, and even the Priest got emotional at the end. It was so heartfelt and involved friends and family with readings, music and the passing of communion.
After the ceremony in town, we headed up the mountain to the picturesque Ten Mile Station. We took a few minutes to hike up the hill with Julie and John to get some beautiful mountain images of the newlyweds alone and then we had their families join us for the family formals before the rest of the guests arrived. Once the buses of guests began to let out, the party was started! It was the perfect evening for cocktails on the patio.
As the sun set we moved inside for dinner, toasts and then the dancing began. I should have known I was in for a treat when on Julie’s shot list she listed: “Good dance floor shots (especially of the Groom – you’ll see why :)” As soon as the amazing Diamond Orchestra started, there was no doubt that this was going to be a fun night of dancing! John and and Julie and their families have moves like I have never seen. We left at 8 o’clock, but I am sure the dance floor was packed until the very last song of the night! (And yes, that is the groom doing the worm in the photos below!)
Julie & John- thank you so much for inviting me to capture your wonderful wedding day for you. It was such a treat. I wish you all the best in the years to come…and I see lots of happy nights of dancing in your future! All the best, Rachel
